Innovations in the internet and internet service have been frequent since it became widely available in the 80’s and 90’s. A great example of innovation in technology was the introduction of wireless connections. Wireless connections are much easier to use than the dial up connections that were needed in the 90’s. For internet providers to succeed they have needed to adapt to the introduction of wireless internet, and to do this they have had to supply matching if not improved services than their rivals. The nature of this field suggests that the provider with the best services will usually prosper and get the most consumers, there is very little physical items provided, so service must be their main focus. It is remarkable how the BT owners have kept the firm at the front of telecom supply and internet services, and the majority of that is down to innovating and adjusting to the evolving market place.

Almost every industry has cases of invention and this post will show three instances of this. In the telecoms sector there have been countless inventions since the earliest telephone was designed. Potentially the biggest innovative idea that was made in telephones was the development of the mobile phone. By enabling users access a handheld phone, they instantly increase the number of telephones people, or households at least, own and utilize. By increasing the number of items offered, it of course increases revenues received. This example of innovation has enabled the likes of the Telecom Italia top shareholders, to increase their returns because of the growth in revenue. Industries in which there is loads of room for innovation will get the greatest investment, as invention is one of the quickest ways to enhance market value. This is part of the reason why the tech industry has flourished so quickly and so widely.

The progress in things like wireless technology have also allowed the progress of computer tech. Without the invention of wireless internet, the functionality of laptops would be really limited. As there has been such great innovation in this sector however, it suggests other businesses can feed off that and further innovate themselves. Laptops have ended up being a lot more popular for personal use, and this has been possible because of the inventions in the communications sector. It is also true however that; had laptops or phones not been created, then less people would need Wi-Fi, so the need for innovation in separate, yet complimentary sectors, is clear. Without the progress made by computer and telephone firms, then there may not have been the emergence of numerous network service providers. Virgin Media shareholders, for example, have benefited from the wide usage of laptops and mobile phones in both homes and firms.
